Questions Answered in this Episode
1. The 3 questions below were similar so were answered together.
Treona: “I would love to hear your advice about what to do after the website is live….what are ways to spread the word or what are ways drive traffic to the website?”
Doug: “Although I have already started down the marketing route and I have business cards, postcards, letterheads, a website including blogging, Facebook page etc., With all of that in place and behind them, where would you advocate a counsellor’s proactive marketing should start? I tend to be (I think), reasonable at design and planning, but pushing myself over the edge beyond passive efforts requires something more.”
Michelle: “There is so much to do and so many ways to market & then you get all this conflicting information from everywhere. For someone just starting out or someone who’s been in business a while, but still has a small following and budget – what needs to be focused on first? Where should I put all my attention? (besides build the list I mean lol). What would be wise to spend money on and what can I do myself until later?”
2. “How can an older, more experienced therapist, who is running a private practice in a very therapist saturated area of an urban American city, and who commands higher fees to respect their length and depth of experience, compete with younger and “hungrier”, new therapists who offer below-market or managed care HMO fees just to “get” clients to complete their clinical hours in competing private practices, when many potential clients are shopping around for therapists just based on who will offer them the lowest fee? Despite having a specific niche of expertise, I have decades of experience on younger therapists whose practices are fuller than mine!”
3. Karen: “How come people rank higher than me in Google?”
